"as iron sharpens iron may our sparks ignite the world

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the word (Or elementary principles); and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:6-8

HAVE YOU RECEIVED CHRIST JESUS THE LORD?

the meaning of received: widely accepted as authoritative or true.

HAVE YOU ACCEPTED CHRIST JESUS THE LORD AS AUTHORITATIVE AND TRUE?

have you received Him as Savior, Lord, the way, the truth and the life?

THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH CHRIST JESUS THE LORD.

have you received His love for you?

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” Psalm 103:11-14

when you read this verse do you still get stuck in receiving His gift to you, your salvation, His deep love and care for you to see you dwelling in His arms?

This morning this verse stood out to me the most, “You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.” Exodus 15:13

The Israelites give me hope every time I read about them. Everything we see God do throughout exodus, and how he said he would do this, this and this, and he does all of it and they still have the audacity to say to Moses, when they were on their way from Egypt, “When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” Exodus 14:10-12

Did God not just do all the plagues he said he was going to do, and protect them from every single one? The plagues didn’t touch their homes, their families, their food, their water, their livestock, their children and family members? Yet, they still aren’t fully on board with putting their full trust in the Lord. Like what?! But can we really judge them? When we are the same? The LORD says ‘what I say, I will do, why would I go back on my word, so I can be seen as a liar, or even this, what I say I will do I will if only you do everything to dot and t of what I have written in this good book, that I have left behind for you to remain in Me.” Y’all God could have not done everything He did for the Israelites, after all the complaining, doubting, bad mouthing his servant, yet he still chose to be faithful to them despite themselves.

WE CAN REST SECURE IN HIS LOVE FOR US, IN HIS CARE FOR US, IN HIS PATIENCE FOR US, BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT WE ARE WEAK AND WILL FALL, BUT LIKE HE SAYS IN HIS WORD HE SHOWS COMPASSION TO THOSE WHO FEAR HIM. AND WHAT WE SEE AFTER THEY CROSS THE RED SEA IS THIS: “Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.” Exodus 14:31

How much longer will you and me doubt His great gift of salvation?

How much longer will we try and strive to earn something that has been freely given to us, and that we would never be able to quench the anger of God?

Y’all how many of us would do what He sent His one and only son to do, his perfect son, the perfect lamb, the one who could quench the anger? The only one in which are to place our hope, belief and confidence in, surrender fully and abide in Him, and walk the narrow road with joy and thankfulness. He carried the weight of the world, every sin, every evil thought and emotion, every selfish move, everything you’ve done knowingly and unknowingly he chose to endure the cross with joy, despising the shame, it was a embarrassing way to die, a gruesome way to die but he chose to still do it because of the hope set before us that he is preparing for us.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

So, will you root yourself in Him? establish yourself deeply and firmly in Him? Our God chose to graft us in. He chose to bring us into His family. The Beauty of the Gospel is that we were dead in our sin, with no hope, but God rich in mercy because of His great love, said I have a solution, and if we believe we will be saved, if we believe we will be raised in the last day, if we believe we will live fearless and confident, unashamed and joyful no matter what is going on around us. he gives us the strength to walk unfazed not to pat ourselves in the back but that we would shine him brighter when people ask us any questions.

First of all is this photo not beautiful.

The grace of God in full display!

That it seriously is impossible to graft ourselves into Christ, we all get to be part. We all get to flourish. We all get to see fruit of His love in our lives through all that we do. Something happens when we truly receive His gift of salvation and allow His truth to take root in our lives.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:4-9

Receive the gift. Embrace the gift. Trust the gift He has given you, that He’s not gonna take it back from you when you fall but he shows grace to those who fear him and humble themselves. So walk in it. Walk in the confidence that you have been gifted something precious that you are too hold most dear then anything else in the world.

Tomorrow we will do part 2 of why we should desire to be rooted in Him and nothing else.

Till then go and ignite every space and bring glory to God in all that you do! ❤
