"as iron sharpens iron may our sparks ignite the world

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:30-31

There are a lot of moments where we will be “over it.” I don’t know what you’re it is but you and the Lord know what it is. The question today is will you let it keep you from waiting and trusting in the Lord or will you let the it keep you abiding in the vine, knowing that the season you are in is not to exhaust you but to strengthen you, to be able to have more endurance to withstand moments that will take a lot of you but you are not left gasping but encouraged and with desire to keep going because of the goal ahead.

When was the last time you peacefully waited for the Lord? More convicting question, when was the last time you didn’t and it didn’t end up so well?

One story in the Bible I think about is the prodigal son. Why? Can you imagine having a whole inheritance waiting for you but because you were just over the mundane of the daily rhythm you have the audacity to go to your parents and say, I want my inheritance now, I’m out. From my understanding inheritance amounts vary and it can increase or decrease while the parent is still alive. So, from my non-money mind all I see in this story he didn’t wait for the fullness of what could have been but just wanted anything. Kind of reminds of the story of Jacob and Esau, where Esau was starving after going hunting and Jacob prepared a good meal, and out of hunger and dramatic emotions said I am about to die, so Jacob says I’ll give you a bowl if you give me your inheritance. Bro what?! And Esau says yes! LIKE WHAT. That’s just insane.

How desperate are you to have what you want now? Why can’t we just live content and patiently in the mundane moments of life? I know for me, I’m a wife and a mom of 5 under 5 and some days I get tired of doing the same thing over and over again.

The definition of mundane can be somewhat negative in this world’s eyes but if we truly look at it the way the Lord sees it is an honor to do the mundane. Because he has given us what is in front us to steward well.

mundane: lacking interest or excitement; dull.(ordinary, normal, repetitive unimaginative

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

Is he receiving praise, being glorified through your faithful stewardship over what he has gifted you?

Will you trust Him even in the mundane moments of life, and know that while we are here on earth we’ve been given the sole purpose to glorify Him, reflect Him in all we do, and that while we are patiently waiting for our inheritance, which is Christ, we would not rush into doing things here on earth to miss out on the joy he wants us to experience that we can pass it on to the next generation.

The prodigal son instead off patiently waiting for something greater he chose less, fast, his hurried self, and squandered everything he didn’t even work for but his father, and spent it all, and the only work he could find is feeding pigs in the owners fields. He was so hungry and longed to eat from the pigs pen but got nothing. He came from a father who provided everything for him, and now he has nothing. He came to his senses, and humbly went back home, and with love his Father opened his arms and had a feast for his return.

It is never to late while you are still breathing of course to come back to the Father, the one who knows you inside and out, the one who has a plan and future for you the one who created you on purpose for a purpose to know how dearly loved you are and make it known to those closest to you and those you will encounter of how deep and wide the Father loves you.

There is an inheritance waiting for us one that if we peacefully wait for it, steward what h has given us here well, we will one day come face to face with God, and he will with joy welcome us to our eternal rest. Why would we throw it all away to have nothing at the end?

Friends, you will get tired, you will want to try and do things that will get you the results you want, you are going to want to just be idle and not fully care because caring can get hard, but when we look at all that has been given to us by God and realize the precious gift that it is, our life will turn into one where we endure, where we will choose thankfulness, deep appreciation, we will seek the Lord first in all things and before doing anything so that like 1 Corinthians 10:31 says “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God,” that would one our anthem, it would be our joy to do because of the joy He had to endure the cross on our behalf. So we will endure and patiently and peacefully wait for the eternity with Him that we have the hope of imagining in our daily mundane rhythms. In imagining heaven we get to partake in experiencing more and more of his perfect peace that he promises to those who choose to delight in him, that choose to trust in Him, that choose to fix their thought and gaze upon Him because putting our gaze on anything but Him gets us in trouble, makes us anxious and keeps us from experiencing the peace He has for us to walk in daily.

There’s a beauty that awaits us in the mundane moments.

The Lord is in them with you and me and He make them all the more sweeter when we fully put our trust in Him and know that He will give us what we need, when we need it, for a great purpose to shout His name louder and louder everyday!

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

It is time to wait well.

It is to quietly trust in the goodness of God for ourselves and those around us, if we aren’t quietly waiting on the Lord and continuing in the work He has given us we and those around us will miss out on the beauty of God, But thanks be to God that even in our lack of quiet waiting He is still faithful to show His kindness towards and steer us in His direction for us, so that we can see Him and others can see Him too.

That is it for today friends, go and ignite every space He allows you to enter and know that He is with you giving you the boldness and the courage to share the good news of Christ to your family and to the stranger behind you at the coffee shop, or the person in the aisle grabbing cereal next to you, make him known!
