"as iron sharpens iron may our sparks ignite the world

“So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise  the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 6:17-20

Have you ever needed more than words to feel truly secure in a promise?

It’s a good question to ask to see where we are really with the Lord and if our security is found more in the inconsistency of this world or in the consistency of the one who is the rock that cannot be shaken.

This verse also reminds me of this verse “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like; a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.  And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like  above a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” -Matthew 7:24-27

The Lord left us this book, the Bible, to ignite us every moment we read to not get confused or sway away from the truth that we get the gift to set our hope in. These verses specifically I have never really read them like I read today and the hope we truly do have in Him, and how he truly went out of His way to reassure us, His sons and daughters that He is faithful and will always be, that He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and that no one compares to Him.

When we read the verse of the day in Hebrews, we read His compassion for us how He knows that we would need a little more convincing that He truly is Savior, that He truly does love us, that He truly desires to give us good gifts, that He desires to give us generously His wisdom and grace to walk holy as He is holy not for our glorification for glorifying God alone.

God wants to ignite our hearts friends.

Why wouldn’t we want to know how deep His love for us really is? Why wouldn’t we want to be assured of our salvation, and deeply rest in His perfect peace?

Y’all this is a short blog today to encourage us to sit in the truth of what He has said, and what He has done, because it is all real. We see non-believers telling the world that it all happened, from beginning to crucifixion, and they will be saying it’s all real when Christ comes back.

I want to go back to this question, Have you ever needed more than words to feel truly secure in a promise? And honestly I would answer that in this was, yes, I am someone who struggles with insecurity and needing extra confirmation, affirmation that I am doing the right thing, walking in the right direction, being a good wife, mom, friend, daughter which is up in the air sometimes (any daughters reading this and are like hmm Lord are you pleased with how I love, help my parents?) Anyways, thanks be to God that the way I feel or how I need more security doesn’t keep God from continuing to show grace and pour his heart out on me as read His word, sit with Him in prayer, worship with my kids, wash the dishes, since he tells us to do all for his glory, yes that means the mundane tasks. Those mundane tasks show us truly where are hearts and minds are, focused on pleasing and glorifying him, or paying our dues to get to a higher position or more pay, or more recognition. Never do things for recognition, nothing we do here on earth is about us, it is always for Him. Back to the point, we today have His word, and are called to hide it in our hearts, so that in the moments of weakness where we are doubting His love for us, our salvation because of Him, and are feeling like a failure because of those around us or maybe a slip up we have had, we can rest in his word that says in Romans 8:37-39 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And it says all over scripture that it is impossible for Him to lie, which means, imagine the Bible being a lie at the end of the age, y’all we’d be a little screwed, but glory be to God that we have seen His faithfulness through the ages, and through our lives seen His goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives, our families lives whether they believe Him or not we’ve seen Him show warnings, we’ve seen Him bless them, because he rains down and shines the sun on those who say yes to Him and on those tho don’t, but he gives us al the same opportunities to say yes to Him.

“we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.”

For the God who says is faithful and the same daily and for eternity. That is the hope we have in Him that we can run to Him for refuge and know that he will not run when we run to Him, but with arms open wide he will welcome us, walk with us, care for us, encourage us, ignite us to be able to be a light for others where he sends us.

“The name of the Lord is; strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10

“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.”

Let’s sit on this together. The sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, we have is Christ. His arrival, death and resurrection was what drew my heart to him, what is still drawing me to His heart for me and the world, and is the only thing and His return for us is what keeps me coming to Him because of how I have seen Him pick me up and turn me around and set my feet on solid ground, who is Christ like Matthew 7:24-27 talks to us about. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like; a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Are we living as if we are indeed sure and steadfast in our Anchored Hope, Jesus? Are we confident in who Christ is? Are we resting secure in His love for us that no matter what may com your way, no matter what the news says, no matter if we fall because we will, he will still be right there to raise us up, to encourage us once again, to reignite our passion for Him, and to know that we are his no matter what.

Jesus, we thank you for how steadfast you are and how we can walk steadfast in your love and grace for us that you will never let us go. Thank you that when we let go, you will always welcome us back with grace. May we desire to remain and abide in you because there is nothing better than walking with you!

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 2 Peter 1:5-10

Y’all be encouraged. We are not perfect, we will have weak moments, we will have moments when it is hard and we will want to quit because we don’t think we can do it, or just don’t feel qualified enough, 2 Peter tells us to make every effort to add to our faith with all that He says that we would be fruitful while here on earth, fruitful and effective for the sake of the Lord being known wherever He tells us to be. Be encouraged He is with you and you can rest and be anchored that the hope in you, Christ, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)
