“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
What does the word unbothered mean?
- showing or feeling a lack of concern about or interest in something.
- not experiencing any discomfort—physically, emotionally, or in another other way.
- To be bothered by something is to be worried about it or to feel discomfort from it in some way.
When I look at his list and the word unbothered, I immediately other than Jesus think about my dear husband. He is truly the most peaceful man I have ever met. The way he puts his head down to just keep going forward even when things don’t go the way they plan, when he gets disrespected and still chooses to forgive and forget with boundaries, when I annoy the crap out of him and he keeps telling me the same thing over and over again, and I keep crying about the same thing, his patience is indeed insane. I am so thankful to God for him and how he teaches me that the Lord is Sovereign and in control, and that me getting bothered and all anxious is not going to change the situation its just going to create tension within our marriage and even our kids. Kids are not unaware of their surroundings. For example, one of my our five kids, knows how bothered someone we know can get that my kid says, “ugh” every time I say alright we are going to spend time with them. It truly makes me sad because I want that person to be see by all of my kids like the best, funnest person in the world, where they never want to leave their presence.
If you truly say you know God, and love Him, why would you ever want to leave his presence? psalms 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Exodus 33:14, we see Moses interceding on behalf of the people, for the Lord to lead them and be with them, because He knows that without God leading they are hopeless and doomed. “How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.” Exodus 33:16
Little lesson:
• Omnipresence: God's inherent nature of being everywhere at all times.
• Accompanying Presence ('Panim'): A deeper, relational, and active presence that God chooses to manifest, leading, guiding, and resting upon His people, as seen in the pillar of cloud and fire.
WE CANNOT BE DISTINCT PEOPLE IF HIS PRESENCE IS NOT AMONG US AND THE ONLY WAY TO BE IN HIS PRESENCE IS BY PUTTING OUR FULL HOPE AND TRUST IN HIM.
If we don’t KNOW GOD we will live a life that will be fazed by every circumstance that comes our way.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.”
How can God be exalted by a bothered people, a people that are clearly not abiding in Him. I think we know when we are truly abiding in Him, when we are walking in such a way where our lives our loud to those around us without us drawing any attention but the Lord shining through us by the smallest of ways or maybe the biggest of ways.
Ask yourself these questions:
- When am I the most bothered in my daily life?
- What do I do when I get bothered, do I complain and take it to a friend or spouse or parent, or do I take it to the Lord, the one who can give me the wisdom I need to move forward in faith that he is in control and I am not.
Father God, we truly desire to live lives that are unbothered by the quick changing things of this world, we truly want to live live unbothered by the emotions of people and show patience and grace to whoever tries to come and unravel us up. Help us Jesus to live like you, unbothered, unfazed by people, circumstances, but like you in the garden seeking your Father’s comfort and strength to do his will no matter what comes face to face to us we truly want to honor you, praise you, and walk with you all the days of our lives, that many would see you though how we live our daily lives. God we want to know you more, deeply more. show us your glory, may your presence go before us, may we see you and go through the doors that you open and not the doors we think our open but are not, just because they look good doesn’t mean your presence is there. help us Lord we truly need you desperately now more than ever. You are coming soon. In Jesus mighty name, we pray this together, AMEN!
let’s go and be a spark of influence wherever we go that our sparks together would ignite every space we enter. May we learn to be still in the midst of the crazy, loud, and dark and trust that you are in our midst and when we call on His name together, He is there, and no matter what happens we are safe in His hands, may we be like the men in the fire and the King and his men are in awe that they are not fazed or bothered in the fire.
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18
They knew what his rescuing meant, whether they burn or not, they are safer in the hands of the Almighty!
“But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, “Didn’t we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?” “Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did,” they replied. “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god !” Then Nebuchadnezzar came as close as he could to the door of the flaming furnace and shouted: “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stepped out of the fire. Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel to rescue his servants who trusted in him. They defied the king’s command and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. ‘Therefore, I make this decree: If any people, whatever their race or nation or language, speak a word against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they will be torn limb from limb, and their houses will be turned into heaps of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue like this! Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher positions in the province of Babylon.” Daniel 3:24-26,28-30
This story gets me every time, it’s definitely CONVICTING, how would you act in this moment, scared or unfazed, ready to meet your Creator, your Savior, your King? I truly want to say, NOTHING YOU DO OR SAY CAN EVER SWAY US FROM SAYING AN ABSOLUTE YES TO OUR GOD, no matter what you take away or want to give us, nothing will keep us from fixing our gaze on him, the author and perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12)
The end of that story, the king Praising God, and making a decree that whoever worships any other god than there’s will be torn apart, houses destroyed, and decreed that their God was the true God, like Psalm 46:10, I will be exalted among the nations and among the earth, whatever means necessary, whether our imminent death or are sweet kindness, HE WILL BE PRAISED AND EXALTED TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, but it takes us living unfazed unbothered lives by faith in Christ who gave it all so we could live free hope filled lives to make disciples of all nations whether we are young or old.
