HAPPY MONDAY FRIENDS!
Main verse for today is Proverbs 4:23
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.“
Y’all there is so much happening in our world that if we are not remaining in God’s word we will literally go insane. let’s read these verses together and see how the Lord will speak us together and as we go about our daily rhythms.
‘My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.’ (Proverbs 4:20-23)
Question #1 for the day: Are we being attentive to the Word of God?
What happens when we are not?
I tend to notice a lot that I go in spirals when I am not sitting with the Lord, when I am not meditating on his word, when I am not in deep community, and when I am not praying and praising the Lord. If I am honest the last few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster, but I am thankful for the Lord’s kindness to continue to pull me to Him in the pockets that are left open and untouched. WE CAN ALL FIND TIME TO BE WITH THE ONE WHO CREATED YOU, FORMED YOU, HAS GOOD PLANS FOR YOU.
Question #2 for the day: What are we listening to most?
We know what happens when we listen to the world rather than His word?
I’ll tell you what I do, I spiral. I get upset quickly because I am allowing the world’s emotions tell me that I have the right to feel the way I feel because the circumstances around me are indeed valid to feel and instead of allowing the Lord to guard our hearts and mind to rest in His sovereignty, we are allowing the world to shape our heart and mind and keep out those that truly want what is best for us, that truly want to walk with us and not apart from us. When has the world ever said, “let’s walk out your emotions together?” NEVER. AND if ever, it comes with ‘well, what is in it for me.
Question #3 for the day: Are we truly hiding His word in our hearts, are we memorizing its sitting and meditating on it, or are we just crossing it off of our to-do list?
You may say, well what does it look like to hide his word in my heart? This is what I was taught, get notecards, and as you read his word in your time with him, write it and put it in your back pocket, put it in front of your desk so that it is visible, write it on your bathroom mirror, post it on your ceiling. In Deuteronomy 6:4-9, God tells us “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Y’all we are supposed to be in daily communion with God. What if we started doing what we will be doing in eternity, praising Him, sitting with Him, walking with Him, laughing with Him, doing life with him for eternity. Sit with the Lord and just imagine it, what eternity with him will be like. We may not be able fully but the joy it gives us and the hope in him that increases within us is better than anything that this world can offer us. the world offers us temporary things that break, mold if we don’t eat or use fast enough, things that need to be upgraded at every second, but in Christ we have everything we need to rest in Him.
I pray that these three questions truly help you. Don’t just read this and move on with your day, write these questions down for yourself and allow the Lord to speak to you and show you where you are and listen to the still small voice of the Spirit on where he desires to take you.
Why are these three questions important to answer? Because if they are answered in such a way that the Lord is not the center, we will indeed be fazed by every single thing that comes our way, that is meant to strengthen us in Him and that is also meant for others to look on and see Christ. Our hearts will hardened and our minds will be restless and anxious the longer we are apart from him.
We cannot guard our own hearts or minds. only the one who created them can.
Also, this verse is not an excuse to not be honest, open and transparent with others. God guards our hearts and minds from the world getting a hold of it, when we guard our lives from others in the body of Christ we keep ourselves from actually being sharpened and encouraged, prayed for and challenged to look more like Christ. Community isn’t always easy but it is for our sanctification.
As you go about your day today remember that when we spend time with Him, he is guarding our hearts from being tainted by this world. He is jealous for us. he wants our full heart not just half or a quarter. all of it ❤
Go be a spark of influence, and may we together ignite the world.
