"as iron sharpens iron may our sparks ignite the world

Happy Friday Friends!

It is day 2 of this new year, I still am in shock that is a new year again. Do you ever wonder sometimes why God allows another year to keep happening, some days my dialogue with the Lord is, ‘why are we still here?’ ‘can’t you come back already, it’s getting a little mundane over here.’ ‘Lord, why do we do this every Sunday?’ ‘Lord, there’s too much happening, too much news, too much brokenness, that causes me to fear and keeps me locked up, can you just crack the sky?’ (As I’m sitting here listening to a song called Pure, it says, “It’s all about, all about you, all about you, it’s about you. don’t let me forget, that it is all about you.”) So, why hasn’t he come back yet, because He desires to see all come to the knowledge of Him. He wants all to repent and turn and believe in him. Imagine the praise break when He cracks the sky, from his sons and daughters, isn’t it crazy that praise is already happening in eternity. Read this verse with me, “It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.” (1 Peter 1:12) It’s as if the angels long to be in our shoes, like what?! Why! We get to see His word come to full fruition. Can you imagine being the last generation?

Why am I talking about this when the series is called UNFAZED?

I am not a word of the year type gal but one of my besties asked me if I was word of the year gal, and I said NOPE. And then the Lord said, this year you are, and what I heard was, UNFAZED. So, what does it mean to be unfazed? one meaning that I am sitting on is: not disturbed, worried, or surprised by something, remaining calm and composed.

I am not a unfazed gal, everything spooks me and slaves me to remain in fear. When we read scripture we see so many examples of men and women that chose to live unfazed, like my husband said today to me, steadfast, they chose to live steadfast because of the one who they believed in. They had peace that they were to listen and obey the Lord their God by faith, in the Old Testament, they never saw him face to face and yet they followed Him into the unknown, they followed and feared Him not caring about their lives but their eternity. In John 20:29 it says, “Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

How do we live in perfect peace in a world where we can’t see God face to face but He promises us that He is with us wherever we go? Why is it so hard to believe in Him and not let the things of this world faze us into a frenzy? As I was writing in my journal today, I wrote my fazed emotions will affect others, right now the ones that will be affected the most are my littles, I have 5 babies under 6 years old and my emotions they see on the daily. I have heard it said, “you are who you follow.” So if we are called to say to others, follow me as I follow Christ. I need, we need to ask ourselves how are we walking, in fear of the temporary or by faith in what the Lord has prepared and is preparing for us.

Raw Moment Alert:

I truly believe that the Lord gave me the word unfazed because I constantly live in fear that I am not His, that I constantly disappoint him, and he’s just deleting me off the book of life. That when I stand face to face with Him he will say, “you did all these things, served in the church, married a godly man, had babies, made lattes and welcomed people into your home, but you did this, so depart from me I never knew you.” Why would the God, Creator of the Universe, want to send any one of us into damnation? Why would he send his one and only Son to die on the cross, a gruesome unnecessary death for us, so that we can have fellowship with Him. (1 John 1:3) Like 1 John 1:8-9 says, “If we say, we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

How does that not bring us peace?

I ask myself, “how does this not give me peace, why can’t I fully sit in the true reality that my sins have been paid for in full by the perfect Son of God?”

Why do I continue to fear death when the Lord says when we believe he will raise us up with him in the end? (John 6-8)

Because I am not resting in the finished work of Christ.

I grew up in a legalistic household, where it was all about applause for doing good and when you did wrong everything was taken away. So unhealthily, my mind is stuck In my childhood, that if I mess up the lord is upset and takes his love from me. But if he takes his love from me that would call him a liar, since if I do believe in him, and do call him Lord and Savior, he says in Romans 8:35,37-39, ‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.’

Friends, I am telling my self and encouraging you all to know without a shadow of doubt that his love for us is even when we do fall because even the righteous fall but get back up. I love the verse in 1 John 1:8-9, the great apostles even know they are sinners who need grace daily.

His Grace is for everyday. His Mercy is for everyday. His love is for everyday. No matter what we did, the important thing is that we choose Him daily, even in the moments where we fall. This is what should bring us perfect peace, that he is with us always, in the dark and bright moments of life, but even in those dark moments is the moments he is closer still, so we don’t fall deeper into it. the enemy would love for us to fall into the deep of condemnation and fear, and will bring us into the temporary of this world, and send false prophets to predict things that they should not predicting and make you fear and grow anxious on your standing with God. That is why we must stand resolute, steadfast, unfazed, because we are fragile clay jars, that could break so easily. but we are fragile clay jars dependent on His grace daily, to take the power of the gospel of Christ in every space we occupy.

Some ending verses:

A friend recently send me this through text:

“I’ve been struggling feeling like I’m not doing enough for god and that what I’ve done in my past has made me unworthy and John has helped me realized that’s not true”

We live in a world that it’s all about what we’ve done, the accomplishments, but the Lord doesn’t see that, imagine living as a handicapped person, where they can’t do anything for themselves. Yet, the heart is what the Lord looks at not anything else. Does my heart follow him, do my actions show that I love Him. Nothing we do can win God’s favor the only one who could quench the anger of God was the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.

THE ENEMY WANTS US TO NOT BELIEVED SO THAT WE WON’T LIVE FREE.

Lord, we believe help us with our unbelief.

“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬, ‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we know the one who holds it all in His hands we can live unfazed, we can live perfectly in peace because of the one who made peace possible for us to know confidently that we are His.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”

Isaiah 26:3-4

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: ABBA’S CHILD

This quote even more so told me it is time to live unfazed, it is time to live confident and steadfast in the work of the cross of Jesus Christ!

“Jesus reinforced His words with deeds. He was not intimidated by authority figures. He seemed UNFAZED by the crowds complaints that He was violating the law by going to a sinners house. Jesus broke the law of traditions when the love of persons demanded it.”

(Abba’s Child, Brennan Manning)
